Yaroslavl is well served by rail, with a three hour elektrichka train to Moscow leaving twice daily, and a 12 hour overnight sleeper to St. Petersburg leaving every night. Both of these trains are cheap, and the 12 h sleeper is a convivial place where it is possible to meet interesting characters.
